This page will have any assistive devices or links to websites I've found helpful. It can be difficult to find something that really works, and we often spend money on something only to find that it's not what we need. It would be helpful if there was a place or person to go to figure out what's out there and what it really does, but I haven't found that place or person yet . Some of these may take you by surprise, but what works, works!

Handybar. Very helpful,, and fits most cars. There's a list of them on the website so you don't have to guess. I like it because it's portable and I can use it if I have to ride with someone else.
http://www.avin.ca/ Mmmm.....don't get the swivel seat cushion thingy. I did. It is too flexible to fit on a contoured seat; it bends to fit the seat and doesn't swivel. Plus, the mechanism to swivel is centered, but your weight on your butt and thighs kinda surrounds it. Since it's flexible, it doesn't turn well at all on a non-flat surface like that. On the other hand, it works somewhat better on a flat dining room chair, which is where it is now. Not great, and I wouldn't have bought it for that, but it's somewhat helpful there.
P-Mates. Urinary directional device for women. Lets us pee standing up, Ladies! Helpful for folks like me who can't get off a standard toilet, but I wish I'd found them years ago for travel..with the inevitable nasty bathrooms...and camping! These are disposable. There are also washable plastic ones out there. I own the Freshette as well. Problem with them in public toilets is that the sink is not next to the toilet, so holding it while adjusting your clothes and getting to the sink is difficult. Upeasy Seat Lift cushion. Doesn't do it for you; just helps. Mine are non-electric and portable. I have one for the office and one for home. I put a belt on it so I can carry it as a shoulder strap, but if you have hand strength, it does have an inset handle. http://upeasy.com/
