GO!!!!

Reilly is home!

Sydney and I picked him up this morning at about 8:00 am, taking a half hour to go over paperwork, meet his mother, and the siblings which hadn't been picked up the day prior. His mother is a beautiful girl, and very mellow.

Since I have stair issues, Martha and her husband had kindly set a pen up in a more accessible area ...her kitchen...for me, and moved all the pups there. I sat at her dining table and met Lucy, their mom, first. I was not paying close attention when Martha released the puppies, and just vaguely followed the wave of pups spreading out across the room, before I thought to look for mine! As I scanned them, I felt one at my feet and looked down...and it was Reilly. He had come straight to me. He just sat there wanting petting. A sister of his joined him and decided to defend me by killing that beaded thing that was wrapped around my ankle. He just wanted petting.

He cried when we put him in the crate, but only briefly. Ten hours of driving time, with fairly frequent stops, and he traveled like he was born to it. Sydney said he cried every time I got out and headed to a bathroom, but I only heard him cry twice the entire trip, briefly. On one stop, I was walking him in a grass strip in front of the car, when the people in the car next to us used their clicker to lock the car and tooted the horn. Reilly was three feet from their car when it went off, and he just perked up to see what that was! No cringing, running away, whimpering, or growling. Such a good sign!

Murphy and Jake are fascinated with him. I'll have to watch Jake, as he's ready to play with Reilly, and could easily smash him flat. No alone time for them until Reilly is big enough. Murphy helped raise Jake, so he understands what this puppy-thing means. He's still excited, but not like Jake. Sherbert-the-cat is totally disgusted that we've done this to her a third time. She'll get over it; she has with the others. Jake is her BFF!

I'll post pictures tomorrow. Tonight will be long, as I've had a couple long days with little sleep, and Reilly had lots of sleep today so will want to be up tonight; and he'll be lonely. We'll get through it.

Welcome Reilly!
