Despite my good intentions, I did not get up and go walk at the park today. I slept in. Chris walked Reilly and let me sleep, woke me to tell me when he left for work just before 7:00...and I still fell back asleep and didn't get up until almost 8:00! I hadn't slept well for a few days, so I guess this was me catching up, but that's pretty bad. Three hours over! Reilly was patient with me, though. As soon as I got up, I got him back outside. He played in the backyard while I fed the rabbits and poultry at the barn, but when I headed down to the pasture the sheep are currently in to feed them, he decided to accompany me (and Murphy and Jake...they always go.) Since it was already getting pretty warm, the 100 yards there 100 yds back was enough of a walk for him this morning. He came back and went back to bed!
He does still like his sleep; he's still a baby. He gets up, goes out to potty, and the heat has him wanting to go back to sleep pretty quickly. The big dogs are the same. If I didn't take him out immediately, he'd be more playful, but we also wouldn't get very far on potty training. The temps are supposed to drop by ten degrees starting tomorrow, so things should get better.
He got a couple visitors today, Lisa and Judy, who came by to meet him. They did get a bit of petting in, but for most of the time they were here, they just got to admire the interesting positions he can sleep in. And help make Murph and Jake feel less left out.
A storm is starting up outside, and you can feel the temps dropping already. Let's hope tomorrow gives Reilly a bit more play energy.
Meg and Reilly
